Welcome note from a bloggin' novice

Hello everybody, everybody meaning--anybody, really, or perhaps my blog just lingers in cyberspace untouched by human eyes or maybe a bored soul or a friend or a foe, whoever you are, though, hello and thank you for stopping your day to read my blog.

In all honesty I don't know much about blogging. It was something that I heard about back in the high school days when my then emofriend (she is not so emo anymore) in commercial arts class would talk about these sorts of things, and I always had the impression that only artsy, maybe upset intellects who needed to channel their teenage angst into some form, created these underground, almost anonymous blogs to help them feel better about the world. Through blogging they traveled to a place where people could say what they wanted to say and be who they wanted to be or maybe be somebody they were not but wanted to be and have no consequences. Or I felt that people who really thought what they had to say was important went there, and while at first I felt maybe a little intimidated and disinterested in somebody who valued their opinions and daily experiences so highly, I have recently come to understand that everybody should value their opinions and life experiences and what a better way to appreciate one's life than share these things.

So, I decided to begin this blog today, because like everyday in my life, my volitions are easily dictacted by my surrounding environmental forces, and this particular breathe of fresh air came from my dear friend, Irene. She is leaving for Japan to embark on an incredible journey that will take her both inward and outward of her mind, body and soul, and she is beginning a blog to keep people up-to-date with her whereabouts and learnings, which I think is wise and wonderful because I can keep up with her when we are miles apart.

While I am not travelling to Japan any time soon (although I will not rule out a potential trip in the near future), I thought this blog might be useful for holding me accountable to reflect through writing, my life and what I am doing with it and what I am learning. We don't need to go far from home to have to do this, we can do it right here in our living room. And yes we can keep a journal, which I also recommend, and I was doing this for awhile. But there is value in making your reflections public sometimes. So why public? Well, I'd like to hear from other people, I'd like to be tuned into your thoughts, experiences, suggestions, rants, tangents, etc. because it is very clear to me that we are as good as the people we surround ourselves with, and the more I surround myself with people who are caring and compassionate about the world, the more I will grow as a person. Which brings me to the next thing. I think you should start blogging too.

KJ - I just wanted to leave my opinion about your above statement. Profound. And I agree 100%. Thanks for letting me surround myself with a little KJ.
